To design a word mark for our fictional magazine that communicates the theme and concepts
of it by using color, type, and image.
Word Mark/Cover Page Inspiration
Act and Change
Act and Change is a magazine talking about the history and current issues of Asian hate in the
USA and Canada. This magazine is to inform while also being interesting and inspiring. The word mark is
inspired by the Asian hanko/inkan stamp. It combines the english word Act with the Japanese/Chinese kanji for
change to represent the asian cultures mixing with the American/Canadian culture.
Words to describe this magazine is Informative, Relatable, Powerful, Inspiring, Bold, Beautiful, Fun, Serious, Connect, Loud, and Activism.

Handmade Rubber Stamp
Used linoleum rubber to create stamp. Took sketch and put it on tracing paper, then transferred it to the linoleum cut.
Started carving the background of stamp with a rubber carving tool (seen below), once finished, tested with paint on paper. Had to fix stamp
and test a couple of times. Took prints and transferred to Illustrator (seen below).
